History

The original Athletic Performance Center (APC) was established as a division of Raleigh Orthopaedic in January 2005. Beginning with a small physical therapy department and one sports physical therapist focused on meeting the needs of the athletic population, it rapidly expanded. In October 2005, the APC expanded into a 20,000 square foot state of the art training facility, with the addition of 2 speed and performance specialists. The APC quickly became known as the facility committed to meeting the unique and specific needs of athletes.

In 2006, Licensed Athletic Trainers joined our growing team.

In 2010, Raleigh Orthopaedic opened a second Athletic Performance Center location in Cary, NC.

In 2012, Raleigh Orthopaedic entered into a 5 year partnership with Athletes’ Performance (now known as EXOS), a global expert in performance training & nutrition services. EXOS has supported numerous #1 NFL draft picks, including the top 4 picks in the 2012 Draft, Major League Baseball MVPs, Olympic Gold medalists, World Cup soccer teams, and top collegiate and high school athletes.

In 2015, the Cary location relocated next to the Athletic Lab.

In 2017, the Raleigh Location entered into a 2 year partnership with The Performance Academy (TPA).

In 2019, Our North Raleigh and Cary Performance Center relocated to their current homes!

In 2023, we added a Performance Center to our existing location on Edwards Mill Rd in Raleigh near the PNC Arena.

In 2024, we will be expanding again to add a Performance Center to our existing location in Garner.

All performance center locations use an integrated training approach, for professional and elite athletes, as well as college, high school and youth athletes, and adults looking to be active and improve their own health and fitness. Our facilities utilize leading training equipment from Keiser, Woodway, and SKLZ, and feature an indoor turf training area at each location.

Our staff has enjoyed the opportunity to work with many middle school, high school, college and professional athletes, including the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Carolina Hurricanes, National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), and the Professional Golf Association (PGA), and Major League Soccer (MLS) athletes.
